Sir, - In 1981 there was an outcry when the childhood home of Lord Edward Fitzgerald was demolished to make way for a surface car park at Frescati House in Blackrock. Seventeen years on, as we commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1798 Rebellion, I notice that the front lawn of Lord Edward's home at Leinster House has been dug up to make way for a surface car park for our TDs.
I can understand our self serving TDs' eagerness to avoid being clamped, but isn't desecrating a national monument going a bit too far? - Yours, etc., John Devlin,
Erne Terrace, Baile Atha Cliath.
