Madam, - As "refuse to pay and the refuse stays" is the current motto of Dublin's local authorities, might I suggest that this fiasco is going to cost the city very dearly when the public health consequences of uncollected refuse become clear.
I doubt very much if householders who have paid their charges will sit back happily while they disappear behind the growing waste mountains of their non-compliant neighbours, or take pleasure in the stench and the thriving rat population. I expect hefty lawsuits and even heftier compensation payments.
There are many who have vowed to fight this battle to the bitter end. Unless the issue is resolved quickly, that end might be sooner then we thought! - Yours, etc.,

Madam, - Do the anti-bin tax campaigners realise that this country has reached crisis point in relation to the waste that we generate?
Our environment is under severe threat as the existing landfill sites have just about reached capacity. Whether the campaigners like it or not, money is needed to deal with the problem and the Government has promised that the bin tax will be used directly towards solving it. We ourselves are generating the waste so must take some responsibility for its disposal.
So sorry, campaigners; do what the rest of us are doing, and pay up! - Yours, etc.,
