Bin-charge protests

Madam, - I don't object to a bin charge, provided that charge is equitable. Unfortunately, this is not so

Madam, - I don't object to a bin charge, provided that charge is equitable. Unfortunately, this is not so. Therefore I have paid half my charge and will not pay any more.

I live in an apartment in a complex of three houses comprising 51 one-bedroomed apartments. The majority of these apartments are single occupancies. We share a total of 20 wheelie bins and are being charged €130 per apartment for bin collection. I reckon it would take me over six months to fill a bin as I put in one small bag per week! No doubt it is the same for many of my fellow residents.

By the way, the charge for private three-and four-storey houses in my neighbourhood is €154. - Yours, etc.,

Madam,- Over the past two weeks I have received numerous leaflets through my door from both sides of the bin-charges row. Surely all this paper is only making the problem worse! - Yours, etc.,
