Sir, - One must agree with Kevin Myers (June 21st) on his remarks about Liberty Hall and other structures in Dublin city. Liberty Hall is probably the most gaunt, unimaginative building erected in the capital in modern times. It has as much elegance as a gigantic egg box!
The architectural style of the buildings referred to by your columnist exemplify the arid, utilitarian concepts of design fashionable some decades ago. Hopefully, the trend is now ended as a sense of proportion and harmony seems to be returning to many new buildings in our towns and cities.
Perhaps a time may come when it will be possible to remove, or even modify, such unworthy creations as Liberty Hall and other monstrosities! - Yours, etc.,
