Madam, - Dr Michael Neary's name has been removed from the Medical Register. Deloitte and Touche and Oliver Freaney and Company have been reprimanded.
I hope the making of a comparison between these two matters, reported upon in your newspaper during last week, will not add to the dreadful trauma suffered by Dr Neary's patients. However, I am concerned that while Dr Neary may no longer practise medicine, two of the leading firms of accountants in this country, apparently, are free to continue as if nothing untoward had happened.
Will the Government or its agencies employ either of these companies in the near future? Are any existing relationships being terminated? Will the Revenue Commissioners accept tax returns from these companies for their clients as readily as in the past?
Or, Madam. does it matter to anyone any more? Have we all been exhausted by Fianna Fáil's clever ploy to allow inquiries into anything as long as the reports from these inquiries are years in the making? - Yours, etc.,
CHARLES M. QUINN, Eglinton Road, Dublin 4.
