More than 300 construction jobs are to be created by the development of a new retail and residential complex in Waterford's city centre, it was confirmed today.

The 1.3-acre site is predicted to create at least 100 permanent jobs.

Planning permission for the scheme was granted by Waterford County Council last night, but it is not known when construction will start.

Developers said the complex would revitalise Railway Square and would include new apartments, offices, a boardwalk and a pedestrian link bridge to the city centre.
