Former Germany coach Berti Vogts is on a shortlist of four to replace Dutchman Dick Advocaat as coach of Scottish club Rangers, according to reports today.
BBC Radio Scotland reported that Rangers chairman David Murray had confirmed that he had a list of four candidates to take over as coach -- including Vogts, Ipswich manager George Burley and Hibernian boss Alex McLeish -- with Advocaat becoming the general manager at the Scottish club.
"The only thing I can say is that I will remain until the end of the season," Advocaat told the radio station after watching his side beat Hearts 3-1 at Ibrox. "I cannot say any more than that but you will get the answer as soon as possible."
Vogts, currently in charge of the Kuwait national side, has already been offered the job according to the report in the Sunday Mail paper.
The newspaper said "sources close to Vogts" claim there has been contact from "an Ibrox official" and that an announcement would be made by the Rangers chairman before the club's annual general meeting on December 18.
Vogts' contract with Kuwait ends in June 2002. -Reuters
