Islamabad - The US evacuated about 200 Americans from Pakistan yesterday after deciding to withdraw nonessential staff due to security threats, US officials said.
Washington began evacuating non-essential staff and their families in a security alert after the August 7th twin bombings in East Africa and the arrest of a Palestinian suspect in Karachi, who has been deported to Kenya for questioning.
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State, Ms Madeleine Albright, yesterday acknowledged that the United States did not react "perfectly" after the explosion at its embassy in Nairobi, but rejected charges of callousness towards Kenyan victims.
