New York - The UN Security Council will discuss on Monday a Sudanese complaint following the US cruise missile strike on a pharmaceuticals plant on the outskirts of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the council presidency said yesterday.
Samuel Zbogar, deputy permanent representative of Slovenia, whose country currently holds the council presidency, said that "there was a consensus among the 14 other members that the Sudanese letter is best raised on Monday" in informal discussions.
It was not known whether the 15-member council would decide on Monday whether to agree to Sudan's request for a fact-finding mission to verify US claims that the plant manufactured a precursor chemical for VX nerve gas, he said.
