London - UN monitors could be used to ensure the human rights of the two Lockerbie suspects if they are jailed for the bombing which killed 270 people, the Foreign Office confirmed yesterday. United Nations staff could visit a Scottish jail to monitor the well-being of the suspects and ensure they do not face interrogation by either British or US security staff. The offer has been put forward by the British Foreign Secretary, Mr Robin Cook, with US backing.
