Two in court over robbery and shooting at Dublin pub

Two men have appeared in court in connection with the shooting and robbery of a Dublin publican earlier this week.

Two men have appeared in court in connection with the shooting and robbery of a Dublin publican earlier this week.

Mr Frank Ward, an unemployed 50-year-old from Knockmore, Tallaght and Mr Larry Cummins (53), also unemployed, from Summerhill Parade in Dublin's north inner city, were charged at Dún Laoghaire District Court with robbery, possession of firearms and resisting arrest.

They were remanded in custody to appear at Clover Hill District Court next Wednesday.

There was no application for bail and both men were granted free legal aid.

The charges relate to the robbery of Mr Charlie Chawke outside his pub, the Goat Grill in Goatstown, south county Dublin on Monday evening.

Mr Chawke was shot in the leg during the robbery and is currently in a stable condition in St Vincent's Hospital.

Around €50,000 in cash was stolen.
