Two men have been arrested and the village of Clady in Co Tyrone remains sealed off today as police investigate claims a massive bomb was left in van last night.
The van was abandoned at about 9.00pm last night on the Urney Road Bridge outside the village with its hazard lights on. The PSNI reportedly received a telephone warned that the vehicle contained a 600lb bomb. The two men arrested are aged 34 and 28.
Elsewhere, the PNSI has reported a security alert in the Meadowvale Park area of Limavady, Co Derry, in relation to a suspicious object reported before 2pm.
The device was found outside a house, and a number of properties nearby have been evacuated.
In Derry, four men was arrested last night after a vehicle was stopped on the Glenshane Road under the terrorism act.
The men, ranging in age from 50s to 20s, are being held at the Derry Serious Crimes Suite for questioning. A number of items were also seized, according to the PSNI.
The arrests are not being linked to the ongoing security alert in Clady, Co Tyrone.
