Two for court over attack on Limerick lawyer

Two men are due in court in Limerick this morning over an aggravated burglary that left a garda and a solicitor in hospital.

Two men are due in court in Limerick this morning over an aggravated burglary that left a garda and a solicitor in hospital.

Gardaí were called to a house at Rhebogue, Dublin Road, just after 6.30 p.m.

They disturbed at least two men who had tied up the lawyer and were assaulting him.

Gardaí were attacked with what is believed to have been a baseball bat, with one officer receiving facial injuries.

He and the victim of the burglary were taken to Limerick Regional Hospital for treatment.

Two men in their 30s were arrested and taken to Henry Street Garda station. One is from Limerick and the other is from Northern Ireland.
