Two Clonmel men made a brief appearance before Lismore District Court, Co Waterford, yesterday on charges arising from one of the biggest drug seizures in the history of the State.
Mr Cecil Kinsella (28), unemployed, of Pinewood Drive, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, and Mr Christopher Maguire (27), a factory worker, of Glenoakes, Glenconner, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, faced three charges of drug-trafficking and possession of drugs for sale and supply, involving 162,500 ecstasy tablets and one kilo of uncut cocaine.
The drugs haul had a combined street value of €1.8 million and was seized at Mr Maguire's home on September 25th.
Both men were remanded at Cahir District Court on Saturday last when an application for bail was refused by Judge James McNulty.
The bail application was renewed yesterday by Mr John Joy, solicitor for the accused, but was strongly opposed by gardaí.
Judge McNulty again refused bail, pointing out that the two had access to the High Court.
He remanded them at Limerick Prison to appear in Clonmel District Court on October 28th.
