A guerrilla rocket-propelled grenade attack on a US convoy near the Iraqi town of Samarra killed a fourth Infantry Division soldier overnight.

Last night's attack, killing the third US soldier in 24 hours, brought to at least 84 the number of US soldiers killed in guerrilla-style raids since President Bush declared major combat over on May 1st.

In an earlier reported ambush last night, a 1st Armored Division soldier was killed and one was wounded in a gun attack while patrolling the Mansur district of Baghdad.

In Tikrit, Saddam Hussein's home town north of Samarra, a female US soldier was killed and three soldiers were wounded by a roadside bomb blast that hit a military convoy yesterday.
