THE impact of a crash in which three young men from Navan, Co Meath, were killed at the weekend cut their car in hall, suggesting they may have travelling at a speed close to 100 m.p.h.
The car skidded off the road from Dunshaughlin to Navan early on Saturday morning. It is thought that the driver might have lost control after hitting a patch of early morning frost in the shade of trees at Rosetown.
The stretch of road, about a mile north of Dunshaughlin, is described by local gardai as "notorious" for serious car accidents.
Mr Martin Lee (19) and Mr James Hill (20) of Navan died almost immediately, at around 5.50 a.m. on Saturday. Mr David Jacobs (19), from Troytown, Navan, the owner of the Honda Civic, died later on Saturday morning in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan.
