Tetovo - Tensions were on the rise in Macedonia yesterday, after overnight clashes with ethnic Albanian guerrillas left three policemen dead and raised new questions about the shaky peace process in the Balkan country.

The fighting, in which the three were killed in a rocket attack near Treboc in the north-west, was the first to break out in Macedonia since hostilities ended in August between government forces and rebels of the National Liberation Army (NLA) with the signing of an internationally brokered peace accord.
