A suspect in the IRA bombing of the British military barracks in Osnabrueck, Germany in 1996 has been extradited to German custody.

Mr Michael Dickson, a 38-year-old Scot, was arrested in the Czech Republic in early December and detained pending an official decision on Berlin's extradition request.

It was finally granted, and Mr Dickson was transferred into German custody yesterdy, the prosecutor's office said.

German law enforcement authorities say there are strong suspicions that he took part in a June 28th, 1996 attack on a British army barracks in Osnabrueck, northern Germany.

A suspected IRA group fired three mortar shells at the base, but only one exploded. There were no injuries among the 150 British soldiers present.

An international warrant was issued in July 1996 for Mr Dickson's arrest. He has denied being an IRA member and claimed he was in the Czech Republic as a tourist.
