Surgery rules Amoruso out for three months

Blackburn defender Lorenzo Amoruso could be sidelined for three months following a knee operation

Blackburn defender Lorenzo Amoruso could be sidelined for three months following a knee operation. The former Rangers captain had surgery to correct the problem after an exploratory examination.

Amoruso is now unlikely to play before the new year, according to the club website, www.rovers.co.uk.

It a further blow for manager Graeme Souness, who signed the Italian in the summer. Defenders Craig Short and Markus Babbel have also suffered injury setbacks and Andy Todd has been recalled from Burnley.
