St Patrick's Athletic received a significant boost today in their bid to secure a second League Cup title.
The Inchicore club have been drawn at home - Richmond Park -for the August 25th final against Longford Town. Representatives of both clubs attended the venue draw last night.
In previous years, the final was played over two legs but that format has been scrapped in favour of an on-the-night decider. Extra time, followed by penalties if necessary, will be played should the sides be level after 90 minutes.
Longford Town, the 2001 FAI Cup runners-up, have yet to win a major domestic trophy and will be hoping to go one better than their recent league draw with St Patrick's at Richmond Park.
In the semi-finals, St Patrick's beat Cork City on penalties at Richmond Park. Longford Town beat Derry City 2-1 at Flancare Park.
