FAI Cup round-up
Three goals and three red cards ensured an incident packed evening at the Showgrounds this evening as Sligo Rovers were ousted from the FAI Cup by Galway United.
Sligo's Ollie Keogh was dismissed in the first half after two bookable offences as the teams both squandered chances to go in on top at halftime.
Galway though took advantage of the extra man nine minutes after the break when Kieran Foley struck. However the visitors were also to feel the wrath of the referee on 65 minutes when Tony Folan was dismissed.
Alan Murphy soon eased their worries with a second goal in the 85th minute and insult was added to injury for Sligo when Ian Rossiter was dismissed in the dying moments.
Scant consolation for Sligo came from a Ramuel Miller goal in the 90th minute.
Longford Town went about their duty in a business like manner as they saw off Waterford United by three goals to one in Flancare Park.
Sean Francis opened the scoring within two minutes for the homeside but the lead was cancelled out by Neale Fenn shortly after the break.
Brian McGovern was on hand to restore the advantage in the 54th minute however and an 84th minute strike from Francis sealed the win and a semi-final spot for Longford.
A 90th minute equaliser from Michael Webb of Bohemians has ensured the Gypsies get another shot at Cup glory after they looked beaten against Drogheda in O2 Park.
Andy Myler was hero and villain for the homeside with defining moments in each half.
Paul Doolin looked to be off to a perfect start with his new club against the defending Eircom Premier League champions, when the veteran striker struck after just 20 minutes.
However Myler failed to kill off the tie when he missed penalty in the 68th minute and was punished at the death when Webb saved Bohs.
