Shelbourne have extended their lead at the top of the Eircom Premier League to four points despite being held to a draw by third placed Cork City at Dalymount Park tonight.
Cork's Kevin Doyle opened the scoring for Pat Dolan's men inside 10 minutes after a well worked free kick from George O'Callaghan and skipper Dan Murray.
Jason Byrne was on target however five minutes later to score his 11th goal of the season and allow Shels take a share of the points.
St Patrick's Athletic took immediate advantage of Cork inability to take all three points as they beat bottom side UCD by two goals to nil, with goals in each half from Tony Bird and Paul Osam.
Meanwhile a Liam Coyle penalty saved a point for Derry City after Shane Robinson had given Shamrock Rovers an 80th minute lead at the Brandywell.Derry and Rovers stay in ninth and fifth respectively.
