Seven units of Cork fire Brigade have brought a massive blaze at a textile plant in the city under control.
Ten units were in attendance at one stage this afternoon after the fire broke out shortly after 2 p.m. in Blackpool on the city's northside.
A number of business operate in the Sunbeam industrial estate but no-one was hurt as a massive fireball, visible from four miles away rose into the sky. People in the area were evacuated.
The fire at the Refond textile plant is thought to have broken out in the dye room in the bottom floor of the building before quickly spreading to the adjoining former Sunbeam plant which is now disused.
Refond employs 130 people in the manufacture of clothes, bedding and rugs.
Traffic on the adjoining Cork to Mallow road came to a standstill because of the fire.
