Seven people, including three pedestrians, died in road accidents between the early hours of Friday and Sunday morning.
A 23-year-old man was killed yesterday when his motorcycle hit a tree near Killallon, Kells, Co Meath. He was named yesterday as Mr Peter Smith, of Crossakiel, Kells.
In Greystones, Co Wicklow, a 54-year-old woman died after being struck by a car on the Blacklion to Killincarrig Road, on Saturday.
A man believed to be about 18 was killed when struck by a car near Dromad, Co Louth, the man's name has not been released. Garda∅ have issued an appeal for witnesses to the accident which happened at 1.45 a.m.
Meanwhile, garda∅ have named the three men killed when the car in which they were travelling overturned at Stradbally, Co Laois on Friday. They were Paul O'Riordan (34), Declan Hewitt (27) and Johnathan Maher (21), all of Stradbally.
Garda∅ have also released the name of a man killed on Friday at Cornelscourt, in south Co Dublin. He was Mr John Wilson, whose address was given as Dublin 8.
