A Serbian policeman killed four colleagues and injured three during a shooting spree in the southern city of Nis early today, a Belgrade radio station reported.
It said the policeman opened fire in a theatre building partly used by the force. He surrendered shortly afterwards, the station said, adding there was now a strong police presence in the area.
The radio suggested the policeman was angered when he found out he might soon lose his job. Police were not available for comment.
