Saudi Arabia executed a Sudaneseman and another from Chad on Wednesday, both convicted ofsmuggling drugs into the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agencyreported today.
The executions in the Red Sea city of Jeddah raised to atleast 31 the number of people put to death this year in thekingdom, which practices strict Islamic sharia law.
At least 45 people were put to death in Saudi Arabia lastyear, 75 in 2001 and 121 in 2000.
The conservative Gulf state executes murderers, rapists anddrug smugglers, usually by public beheading.
