DUBAI - Some 47 people were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while they were being deported for residency violations, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
The agency, quoting a road transport official, said an undisclosed number were also wounded when the vehicle overturned. They were receiving treatment in nearby hospitals.
SPA did not give the nationalities of those killed and wounded but said they were being deported to Jizan, an area in south western Saudi Arabia close to the border with Yemen. In the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, an official said that Yemenis were among the casualties.
