A Russian cargo ship which was in distress off the Co Down coast has been successfully towed to safety.
The 1,500-tonne vessel with a six-man crew developed engine trouble in the Irish Sea.
A spokesman for the Coastguard confirmed that the towing operation was successful. The cargo ship had reached Belfast Lough and was expected to dock in the seaside town of Bangor, Co Down.
"We are pleased with the way the operation has gone," he said.
