The Russian foreign ministry has warned against installing "external forces" in a new Afghan government following the Northern Alliance's capture of Kabul.
In Moscow's first official reaction to the Taliban militia's loss of Kabul, Deputy Foreign Minister Mr Alexander Losyukov told the Interfax news agency the new Afghan administration must be based on a multi-ethnic government.
Mr Losyukov also warned against an attempt by unspecified "external forces to place their people in Kabul," Interfax reported.
"The repetition of such scenarios, which have taken place in the past, may cause a new explosion in the country," he said.
