Shamrock Rovers' brand new signing Liam Kelly, who came from St Patrick's Athletic during the close season, scored his first goal for his new club against UCD to secure their first win of the season and bring them up to second in the Eircom Premier League this evening.
Kelly pounced after a just nine minutes to head the ball home after Shane Robins had centred a deep cross.
Earlier an Alan Reilly hat-trick sent Waterford United to the top of the table as they beat St Patrick's Athletic by four goals to two.
Thomas Fitzgerald sealed the Waterford win in the ninetieth minute after Tony Bird had bagged his second and third goals of the fledgling campaign.
