As Mr Bartholomew "Bart" Fisher, who is accused of stabbing Mr James Joseph McGinley to death, was before the Derry court members of the dead man's family and other supporters had to be restrained from attacking the defendant.

Individuals in the crowd yelled "May you rot in hell" as he was taken away.

Afterwards, outside the court, two rival crowds faced each other as officers with riot shields formed a line to allow the Land Rover containing Fisher out of the courthouse to jail.
