PART-TIME model Lisa Doyle was compared to a “beautiful daffodil” at her removal Mass last night. Hundreds of mourners gathered at St Andrew’s Church in Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, to pay their respects to Ms Doyle (24), who was found dead in her home last weekend.
Fr Paddy Byrne, curate at Bagenalstown parish, described Ms Doyle as being like a daffodil, and said: “Though her life was short, her beauty has enhanced the lives of others.”
Fr Byrne spoke of the loss endured by Ms Doyle’s family, and said “even in the midst of tragedy, light is greater than darkness”.
Ms Doyle was brought to the church by her family following prayers at Somer’s Funeral Home.
Her body was discovered at 6am on Sunday in an upstairs bedroom of the rented home in Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow, which she had moved into the previous week.
Ms Doyle, of Eastwood, Bagenalstown, had worked as a supervisor in a store in Carlow town. She also did some modelling and worked with the elderly.
Her sisters Jane, Katherine and Angela, her brother Michael, and father Lawrence were comforted by friends and neighbours at last night’s ceremony. Her mother, Bernadette, died some years ago.
Ms Doyle will be buried in the Cemetery of the Assumption, Bagenalstown, following requiem Mass at 11am today.
