The Division One fixture between Derby and Sheffield United at Pride Park and the Division Two match between Port Vale and Blackpool have been postponed.

The Barclaycard Premiership is not guaranteed to escape the conditions either, with the matches between Birmingham and Middlesbrough at St Andrews and Wolves and Liverpool at Molineux dependent on inspections.

In Scotland, the heavy rain has caused the postponement of several Bell's Football League and Tennent's Scottish Cup matches.

The First Division clash between Falkirk and Inverness at Ochilview Park has fallen foul of the weather and the Division Two game at Dumbarton, where Forfar were the visitors, has also been called off.

The Scottish Cup second-round ties at Morton and Stranraer, against Vale of Leithen and Hamilton respectively, have also been postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
