Detectives in Belfast have seized a number of vehicles for forensic examination as part of a murder investigation, it emerged today.
Mr Danny McGurk (35) was shot five times as he answered the door at his home at Ross Road in the Lower Falls area of west Belfast in August.
No one has been charged in connection with the murder but police believe it was carried out by the "Real IRA".
Detectives, who are returning to the murder scene today to carry out house to house inquiries, believe that fear of retribution has prevented any witnesses coming forward. They believe a vehicle was used by the killers but have still to obtain what they believe is a vital piece of evidence.
A police spokeswoman said they have established a motive for the murder but despite three months of intensive investigation, they have yet to achieve a breakthrough.
As part of today's operation, they have appealed to a well dressed man in his fifties who entered the house shortly after the murder to contact them. They believe he may have been on his way to Mass and could have vital information for the investigating team.
