HANOI - Eight Vietnamese, including police and border guards, have been sentenced to death by firing squad for drug trafficking. The trial has gripped public attention with revelations of graft in the powerful security agencies.
Six of those sentenced to death are police and border security agents accused of being part of a ring that smuggled in hundreds of kilos of southeast Asia's "Golden Triangle" heroin, using police cars to ferry it from Vietnam's borders to the capital and other cities.
