TOP model, Naomi Campbell, at the centre of a mini furore at Milan women's fashion shows, apologised to a leading Italian designer yesterday for missing a show.

Ms Campbell (25), who has appeared in most of the top stylists' line ups at the autumn winter 1996/1997 ready to wear shows, wrote to knitwear designer, Laura Biagiotti, to say she was sorry for arriving late to model her collection on Tuesday.

Ms Campbell said she regretted the inconvenience caused the designer and expressed the hope they would work together again.

The office of Biagiotti, who turned the model away from Tuesday's show, said the gesture was appreciated and the designer considered the matter closed.
