Rome - Luciano Pavarotti accused of tax evasion, announced yesterday he had reached a harmonious, if expensive, agreement with the Italian Treasury.
The famous tenor, who had been accused of submitting incomplete tax declarations for the years 1989 and 1991, has agreed to hand over 25 billion lire (some $13 million) to the Treasury, public television channel RAI reported.
Pavarotti told the will meet Italian Finance Minister Ottaviano Del Turco Thursday to formalise the agreement.
