Paris St Germain president Francis Graille has revealed his club's interest in signing Manchester United's French goalkeeper Fabien Barthez.

Graille concedes Barthez would have to accept a cut in salary, but believes a deal can be worked out now that former United chief executive Peter Kenyon has left Old Trafford to join Chelsea.

"We have made contact over Barthez," Graille told the Daily Express. "It would be fantastic to have a world champion back at PSG. There are a lot of things which need to be sorted out before it can happen, though.

"Salaries in the Premiership are higher than in our top division. But things will be smoother now that Peter Kenyon has been replaced by David Gill. I know David and we get on well."
