Posters featuring the maroon Vauxhall Cavalier used in the Omagh bombing have been displayed in Omagh and were due to appear on a television appeal for information by the RUC last night.

"We are hammering things as hard as we can," said Mr Eric Anderson, Deputy Assistant Chief Constable of the RUC. "Things are moving on and we are working at many different factors of the investigation.

"We are travelling widely in an effort to talk to people and get people to come forward."

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's anti-terrorist squad have also been combing through the wreckage. "That has been a great help to us. They are experts at sifting through rubble," he said.

He confirmed that two phone boxes believed to have been used by the Omagh bombers to make their warning calls have been taken away for forensic examination.

The boxes, at Silverbridge, near Forkhill in south Armagh, were sealed off soon after the bombing, according to local people.
