Vandals have attacked the grave of a murdered Catholic postal worker near north Belfast, it emerged today.
The headstone where Daniel McColgan (20) is buried was damaged and flowers were scattered.
It is the latest in a series of attacks on Mr McColgan's grave at Carnmoney Cemetery in Newtownabbey on the outskirts of Belfast.
He was shot dead by the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) as he arrived for work at a postal depot in the staunchly loyalist Rathcoole estate in January 2002.
A priest who is at the centre of an effort to halt graves being targeted in the cemetery, which is located close to Rathcoole, said the murder victim's family were bitterly upset at the latest attack.
Father Dan Whyte told BBC Radio Ulster: "It was damaged by knocking the corner of the headstone which carried a photo of Danny.
"It meant that the attack was especially personal by targeting something that would have been precious to his family."
