A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a Limerick child who died following a fire-bomb attack on her home earlier this year.
Mr Patrick Slattery, Garryglass Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, was appearing yesterday before Limerick District Court.
He was charged with the murder of Katelyn Ryan (4), of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, on April 8th last.
Det Garda Michael Murphy told the court that the defendant made no reply in response to his arrest, charge and caution.
The child died at Crumlin Children's Hospital two days after a fire-bomb attack at her home, in which she suffered serious injuries.
Her one-year-old sister, Leah, and her mother, Jackie, also suffered serious injuries in the fire which burned out the Ryan family home.
Ms Ryan broke a bone in her back when she jumped from a bedroom window clutching Leah in the early-morning blaze.
Mr Slattery had previously been charged with arson following the fire-bomb attack.
Judge Peter Smithwick remanded the accused in custody to appear again before Limerick District Court on September 3rd.
Speaking after the brief sitting, Ms Jackie Ryan thanked members of the Garda for their help in the investigation.
