The son of President Saddam Hussein's Information Minister, Mr Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, is a surgeon at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, according to a report in the Irish Daily Star.
The newspaper reported that Dr Osama al-Sahaf arrived in Ireland last year after studying in Jordan and working in Baghdad.
It quoted Dr al-Sahaf saying his father was a "good guy" and that he knew he was responsible for his own decisions.
According to the report, Dr al-Sahaf was happy that Baghdad had been liberated. He said he had not seen his family for two years or spoken to them in six months.
