The Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan, yesterday officially relaunched the Sligo-Dublin air service, awarded to Aer Arann Express in February. Twice daily services recommenced in March.
The airline expects to carry 25,000 passengers on the route this year. It was awarded the Public Service Obligation contract for Sligo and Donegal, following the demise of Euroceltic Airways, having previously serviced both routes from December 1999 to July 2002.
Mr Brennan said the Government was committed to regional air transport as it fulfilled a major role in the overall national transport network.
