Catherina McKiernan was today named on the Irish team for the European Cross Country Championships despite missing domestic action over the weekend with 'flu.
The Cavan native sat out yesterday's National Inter Counties Championships around Belvedere House, near Mullingar but is included in the Irish team, along with Sonia O'Sullivan, for the European event in Edinburgh on Sunday week.
Fellow Olympians Ann Keenan Buckley, Marie McMahon Davenport and Rosemary Ryan and Donore athlete Jolene Byrne complete the women's line-up.
Seamus Power, who won his ninth successive Inter Counties title yesterday, will lead the men's team. Peter Mathews, Vincent Mulvey, Robert Connolly, Mark Kenneally and Alistair Cragg have also been selected.
