Marseille will appeal against FIFA's refusal to allow them to sign former goalkeeper Fabien Barthez on loan from Manchester United.
The world governing body ruled yesterday that Barthez would not be allowed to move outside of the transfer season.
However, the French club today announced on its website that it would contest the decision.
"After having foreseen returning to England, Fabien Barthez, in agreement with Manchester United and Marseille, will continue to train with OM until the result of this appeal is known," said the statement.
The French Football Federation (FFF) has already been notified of the move.
Marseille had hoped that a long-term injury to their reserve goalkeeper Cedric Carasso would allow FIFA to look favourably on their request.
