A 33-year-old man was remanded in custody today in connection with the largest-ever cocaine seizure in Northern Ireland.
Mr Conrad Litter from Barbor Lodge in the Hilden area of Lisburn appeared at Craigavon Magistrates' Court charged with possession of a Class A drug, namely cocaine, with intent to supply.
A detective constable told the court the drugs, with an estimated street value of £1 million sterling, were found in searches in Lurgan, Co Armagh and Lisburn, Co Antrim earlier this week.
The court heard Litter replied "no" when charged, but the detective constable said he believed he could connect the accused with the charges through forensic evidence.
During police interviews Litter consistently denied being involved in any drug smuggling operation, the court heard.
Bail was refused and the father-of-one was remanded in custody to appear again in court on November 20th.
