Manchester police said last night that they were still questioning a man held on remand accused of abducting a five year old Irish girl, about her murder, writes Rachael Borrill.

Mr Andrew Pountley (31), a disc jockey from Oldham, was due to be committed for trial next week charged with abducting Rosemary McCann, who is a member of the Irish travelling community. However, a Manchester police spokeswoman said Mr Pountley would be interviewed again by officers.
