A man arrested in connection with the Real IRA murders of two soldiers in Northern Ireland has been released from custody, police said today.

The 37-year-old was also being questioned in connection with the attempted killing of five people during the shooting outside Massereene Barracks, Antrim, in March.

Police said a report had been passed to the Public Prosecution Service.

The man was arrested yesterday in Bellaghy, Derry, by detectives investigating the murder of Sappers Patrick Azimkar and Mark Quinsey.

They were the first soldiers to be murdered in Northern Ireland in 12 years.

Lurgan man Colin Duffy, 41, is one of two men charged with the murders. He has been in custody since March.
