Man held over Dublin shooting

Gardaí investigating a shooting last night in Milltown, south Dublin, arrested a man (19) earlier this morning.

Gardaí investigating a shooting last night in Milltown, south Dublin, arrested a man (19) earlier this morning.

The shooting happened close to the well-known Dropping Well pub at about 6.15pm. The victim had been walking in the park beside the pub when the shooting took place.

He was taken to St Vincent’s hospital where he remained last night. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The man arrested today is being held under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 in Terenure Garda Station.

Customers at the Dropping Well last night expressed shock after the shooting victim stumbled into the busy lounge. The pub, owned by businessman Charlie Chawke, is located on the banks of the river Dodder and beside a popular walking path along its banks.
