A man was being questioned today by detectives probing a spate of race hate attacks in Belfast.
The suspect was arrested amid outrage at the brutal assaults on two Chinese families, and one of African descent, by a gang in the south of the city.
In one of the weekend incidents men burst into a house in the Lower Donegall Road and assaulted two pregnant Chinese women. A man who was with them also had his nose broken when a brick was smashed into his face.
Missiles were fired through the windows of two other houses in the area.
All three families, some with young children, fled their homes following the attacks.
A police spokeswoman confirmed today that investigating officers had taken one man in for questioning, adding: "The arrest is in connection with racial attacks in south Belfast."
